Department of Commerce
Students learn the basics of business. These include systems of production, distribution and consumption, and business management operations. The curriculum consists of five courses in two programs. One of the programs is Business Management, which offers three courses; Management and Entrepreneurship, Sales and Accountancy. The other is Regional Management, which offers two courses; Regional Leadership and Administration. The Department aims to cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit and to develop specialists in areas of business and community leadership equipped to deal with the changing characteristics of the times.
Specialized subjects such as Principles of Commerce, Economics and Accounting are offered during the first year. This helps students to grasp the basics of the study programs so that they can decide what they want to learn during their second year and beyond according to their interests. In order to promote more efficient learning, smaller classes and a semester system are also offered throughout the four-year course. An internship system is also offered whereby students can learn about real corporate situations in the field. This equips students with awareness as members of society, and instills a sense of purpose to enable them to enhance their potential for the future.

Features of the Curriculum
Corporate Strategy (3rd year)
Students acquire a basic knowledge of corporate strategy and improve their decision-making abilities. This is done through learning the importance of management philosophy in the process of growth and advancement, planning of management strategies in response to environmental changes, and management and administration using actual corporations as case studies.
Marketing Research B (3rd year)
This course is divided into two parts. One looks at understanding the behavioral patterns of consumers, while the other is aimed at understanding marketing research. Students also create research sheets the analysis of which form the basis for further discussion.
Commerce Research Training (3rd year)
This involves a demonstrative and comprehensive study of commerce by conducting field research according to individual group research themes. Students carry out hearings from corporations and create questionnaires in the community and produce reports based on the research results. They then give feedback to the community and the corporations involved in the research.

The department commits itself to helping students to gain a wealth of wisdom and knowledge from business practices, to understand how to practice what they learn, and to cultivate their potential as business leaders. Students systematically learn the structure and function of modern corporations, the environment and community surrounding corporations, and the principles of consumer behavior based on the basic features of economic activities. These include production and consumption, distribution, understanding quantative information underlying economic activities, information gathering and creative activities using IT. The education offered is therefore designed for those who wish to work as qualified professionals, managers, entrepreneurs, sales professionals, planners or accountants in each industry, leaders in the community and NPOs, and teachers. - To provide bilateral education (teaching staff and students)
The Department of Commerce commits itself to developing students with knowledge of corporate management, business transactions, accounting, computer literacy and communication skills. Students acquire such knowledge and skills and also learn theories, history and practices through activities where they work together with teaching staff in analyzing and researching the businesses of big and small-to-mid-sized companies, the businesses of retailing and service industries and the businesses of nonprofit organizations and local governments. Our aim is to motivate students' interest and to improve their skills in business through the implementation of a broad learning process. - To nurture students with autonomy
We commit ourselves to developing students with autonomy which will equip them with the skills to analyze themselves. It will also promote the creation of ideas and presentation skills by encouraging experience-oriented study and the acquisition of qualifications to give them a practical attitude.
In order to achieve this goal, we aim to develop specialists capable of dealing with the new era as busines leaders in the community by helping them to acquire a high level of expertise appropriate to their future careers. We also aim to cultivate entrepreneurship. We emphasize practice-oriented education in which students learn according to their goals through practical courses. These include the Internship System, where students work in a corporation, as well as Commerce Research Training where students conduct field research in an area assigned to them. We also aim to raise awareness of compliance with rules, to focus attention on diversified societies and respect for human rights. - To cultivate energy that contributes to the community
The Department of Commerce makes the most of its position by looking to resolve issues such as the revitalization of local industry and the fulfillment of the needs of the community. In order to achieve this goal, we commit ourselves to contributing to the revitalization and development of the community through cooperation with the community and between teaching staff and students. - To enhance students' motivation to learn (effort for improvement)
We offer lectures and training that interest students to motivate them to learn, at the same time responding to their needs by offering individually tailored advice and instruction from the first year. As it is becoming increasingly important to build on the quality of education offered, we continue to improve the content and methods of our teaching. - To create a campus culture that builds character and imagination in individuals and strengthens the spirit of teamwork — in short, to cultivate individuals.

It also lies in profound and creative study, and respect for individuality based on mutual trust and responsibility between students and teaching staff. The satisfaction that students feel after graduation at the age of 25 also applies to parents, the community and corporations. In order to provide this satisfaction, we continue to improve the content and methods of our work by listening to them and maintaining close cooperation with them.
