Special Selection — Entrance Examination for International Students
This entrance examination is open to foreign nationals who have completed 12 or more years of schooling, principally in foreign countries, and who wish to enroll in Sapporo Gakuin University.

Web application (by applicant) → submission of application documents (by applicant) → printing of examination ticket (by applicant) → essay and interview (by applicant) → notification of acceptance or rejection (by university) → submission of documents for admission procedures (by applicant) → document verification (by university) → issuance of admission letter (by university) → change of status of residence (by applicant) → submission of alien registration certificate (by applicant) → admission (by applicant)
2. Application Requirements
- 1) Those who have completed, or expect to complete by March 31, 2024, 12 years of school education in a foreign country.
- 2) Those equivalent to 1) and designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

3) Those designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology who fall into one of the following categories.
- Holders of an International Baccalaureate qualification awarded by the International Baccalaureate Organization in accordance with the Civil Code of Switzerland.
- Holders of an Abitur qualification, recognized in the Federal Republic of Germany as a qualification for university admission.
- Holders of a baccalauréat qualification recognized in the French Republic as a qualification for university admission.
- Those who have completed, or are expected to complete by March 31, 2024, a 12-year course at an educational institution established in Japan for the purpose of providing education to foreign nationals, and whose educational activities are accredited by an international evaluation organization (WASC, ACSI, ECIS) designated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

The JPUE will be held in December 2023 and later, and the interview will be held in November 2023. The interview format after December 2023 will be either an in-person interview on site or an interview via the Internet (hereinafter referred to as a “web interview”). For Schedule A of the examination conducted by the University, you may choose either an in-person interview at the University or a web interview. In the case of the web interview for Schedule A, it may be conducted on a date other than the above.
(2) Selection Process
Selection is based on a comprehensive evaluation of the applicant’s performance in an essay test, which is unique to the university, in addition to a document screening and an interview. Applicants who have obtained scores from the following external examinations may be eligible for additional points, so please submit the results of these examinations.
- “Reading Comprehension” and “Listening Comprehension/Listening-Reading Comprehension” in the Japanese language section of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) (administered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO))
- Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) (jointly administered by the Japan Foundation and Japan Educational Exchanges and Services)

(2) Selection Method

In addition, applicants who have obtained scores from the following external examinations may be eligible for points, so please submit the results.
Reading Comprehension and Listening Comprehension/Listening-Reading Comprehension in the Japanese language subject of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) (administered by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO)).
Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) (administered jointly by the Japan Foundation and the Japan Educational Exchanges and Services)
