Career path after graduation

The Department of Jurisprudence offers students extensive support, including a full range of civil service examination preparation courses starting in the second year, as well as a series of mock interviews with former civil servants for students who have passed the first round of entrance examinations. As a result, the department has produced many successful candidates for a wide range of public service positions, including national civil servants (regular service), employees of the Hokkaido prefectural government and various municipal governments, police officers, and firefighters. Of course, the Department of Jurisprudence also has a strong record in terms of employment in the private sector, and has made efforts to support students in finding positions in the agricultural cooperative and financial industries, where they can perform work similar to that of public servants. As a result, the employment rate and actual employment rate for the department’s graduates has remained consistently high. In the curriculum starting in the 2021 academic year, we introduced further support for job hunting activities such as SPI measures and internships. Furthermore, in order to prepare more thoroughly for the civil service examinations, students also have the opportunity to take preparatory courses at the university’s Extension Center.
